A successful specification starts with the finish, the surface beneath it, and the way the door is used.

What is a door skin wrap?

A door skin wrap is an architectural film applied to a suitable existing door face to change its appearance. The film adds the chosen finish; it does not replace the door's core or repair a failing assembly.

Is it the same as a rigid replacement skin?

“Door skin” can describe several resurfacing products. Our wrapping service uses flexible architectural film. Rigid panels and replacement face skins have different preparation, adhesive, edge, and clearance requirements, so identify the actual material when comparing quotes.

Can the finish look like wood or metal?

Yes. Architectural finishes include wood-grain, metal, stone, and solid-color appearances. Compare a physical sample and pattern code to check tone, texture, and grain direction before specifying the finish.

Does it cover the edges and frames?

Coverage is defined in the project scope. Door edges, both faces, and compatible frames can require separate preparation and detailing. Photos of hinges, locks, closers, and frame profiles help us assess the work.

Can a rated door receive architectural film?

A finish's surface-burning classification and a door assembly's fire rating describe different things. Any work on a rated opening needs review of the exact film, adhesive system, door, frame, and applicable documentation before installation.

What about raised panels or deep grooves?

Flat door faces are the most straightforward starting point. Detailed profiles require individual review of the geometry and chosen film; some surfaces may need preparation or a different solution.

Can film go over an existing painted finish?

Sometimes. The existing coating must be sound and compatible with the specified installation system. Peeling paint, contamination, moisture, or loose surfaces must be addressed before a wrap is considered.

Send photographs and a door schedule or approximate count for a project quote. A material-only price does not include the same work as a supply and installation estimate.
Include your location, door count, approximate dimensions, preferred finish, and target schedule. Add photos of both faces, edges, frames, hardware, and any damage. Tell us whether the project is a hotel PIP, occupied-property refresh, or another commercial renovation so we can discuss access and phasing.
Installation methods depend on access, surface preparation, and the required finish details. Suitable doors can sometimes be wrapped in place, while other conditions may require removal or additional hardware work. We confirm the method and access plan for your scope.
Suitable wood and metal door surfaces can be candidates. The existing coating, surface stability, profile, use, and selected film determine compatibility. Film does not correct a damaged core, corrosion, moisture problems, or an unsuitable door assembly.
Follow the selected manufacturer’s current cleaning instructions. Cleaning agents, abrasion resistance, and care requirements vary by product series. Share the cleaners used at your property during specification, particularly where frequent disinfection is required.
Exterior exposure requires a product specified for that use and a review of the substrate, weather exposure, and application details. An interior architectural film should not be assumed suitable for an exterior-facing door. Tell us which side of the door is exposed so we can assess the material options.
